It's Neck and Neck!

As campaigning in the by election for Houghton, Haynes, Southill and Old Warden district ward hots up, it is clear that a close run contest is in prospect. Canvass returns show Roger Baines neck and neck with the Conservative candidate. Roger said "I have lived in the ward for 30 years, and pledge to work hard for local people, and keep in touch all year round." In the last by election here in 2004, the Lib Dems were just 169 votes behind the Conservatives. In a close run contest just one vote could make all the difference.

Mid Beds District has 37 Conservative councillors, 11 Liberal Democrats, 4 Independents and NO Labour Councillors.
