Lib Dems push for Cleaner Neighbourhoods

2.10.17pm GMT Sat 25th Feb 2006

Lib Dem councillors on Mid Beds District Council are pushing for better use of the Cleaner Neighbourhoods Act. It enables councils to clear rubbish, abandoned cars, and graffiti, but also to take action against those who cause these blights on our communities. Mark Chapman said "I have requested that the council look again at this area. We have been told that we can now take action against many of the owners of land and buildings to keep our county clean. There is support across the council for this but the Tory Executive have decided there is no money for this. We urge them to look again at this area as a priority. Our local area is a mess, and we need to do more to clean it up".
