Tories Fail to Support Anti-Crime Intiative

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 30th Apr 2001

Beds County Council Tories abstained from voting to increase the spend on Bedfordshire Police service.

Liberal Democrats and Labour councillors were left to push through an extra 11p a week to help cut crime on their own- without Tory support.

This hypocritical attitude by the Tories is typical. It exposes their claim to be the party of law and order for the hollow piece of rhetoric that it is.

Liberal Democrats know that if you do not pay for a service you do not get it. Paying and getting improved police presence in the County is something everyone wants -except apparently the Tories.
